As part of the Associate degree Tourism Management you will develop new products within the tourism industry aimed at needs and wishes of the target group. The regional and international tourism-and-hospitality industry is the primary focus of this course. Hostmanship and guest experience are key elements in this program. You'll learn how to make people feel welcome, whether they're a guest or employee. You're prepared to create connections, making you the link between the company, the employee, and the guest. You also have the skills to connect different organisations together to promote a city or a region. You'll learn about subjects like marketing, human resource management, research, intercultural communication, strategic management, financial management, and international law. From the beginning you'll develop your entrepreneurial mindset and you'll learn everything there is to know about entrepreneurship. In the end of year two you graduate by writing a thesis.


Admission requirements

To be admitted to the V&TM programme you need:

  • A qualification equivalent to a Dutch secondary education diploma, which gives you access to higher education.
  • A good command of written and spoken English. Your level of English should be equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0.

If you don’t have the appropriate secondary school diploma, and if you are at least 21 years old, you may be exempted from this requirement. The HZ provides the possibility of taking an alternative entrance exam.

Fees and finances

Next to the tuition fees, there are also costs related to for example your books and excursions. These costs total about €500,- per year.

After graduation

Congratulations, you’ve graduated! As a graduated Associate, you now have a level five diploma.

With your diploma, you have all kinds of possibilities in the world of tourism, vitality and wellness. Both nationally and internationally. If you already work in the tourism sector, you can go for a higher or a new position at your current or new employer. You can for example start working as an assistant manager or advisor in the field of health & lifestyle. Would you rather start your own company? From day one at the HZ, we teach you all the skills you need to start your own company.

As a graduates Associate, you are trained up to level 5 in two years. Want to keep studying? You can study for another two years to get your Tourism Management bachelor’s degree. After receiving your bachelor’s degree, you can call yourself ‘Bachelor of Business Administration’.
