The Resilient Deltas research group conducts research into climate adaptation, driven by questions from (local) authorities and businesses. The research results in practical advice on ways to adapt to the risks of flooding, drought/water scarcity and extreme weather, such as heavy rainfall. The multidisciplinary group has broad expertise in the fields of risk analysis, spatial planning, economics, governance and social sciences.
Teun is a civil engineer and holds a PhD in risk psychology. His specialism is water safety in the context of long-term climate change and sea level rise. Flood protection, perceptions of flood risk and public support are key themes in the practice-oriented research he is working on. Within the Delta Climate Centre, his focus includes flood-defence landscapes.
