8 January, 14:15 | Friday 9 January online education at HZ again

It has been decided that online classes will also be held on Friday, 9 January. This means that there will be no classes at the HZ locations on that day. Study from home and take care of your own safety if you do have to travel.

The most important points at a glance:

  • All full-time and part-time courses will be offered online on Friday 9 January. The programmes themselves will provide information about the content of (practical) lessons.
  • Scheduled tests will not take place on Friday 9 January. Programmes will communicate new dates themselves.
  • The HZ buildings in Vlissingen and Middelburg will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can go there for research activities or self-study, among other things. The catering at HZ Vlissingen will be open till 13:00. The catering at HZ Middelburg will be closed as usual.

For next week:

  • If the weather over the weekend causes uncertainty about the situation on Monday, we will send out an update by email on Sunday. Otherwise, classes will take place in person at the HZ locations.
  • Scheduled tests will continue as planned for now.
  • We advise students to prepare for delays or cancellations in public transport by, for example, arranging carpooling.

7 January, 16:20 | still no trains and buses in Zeeland

The consequences of the snow are more serious than expected. There are many disruptions at NS, which means that fewer trains can run than expected. There are currently several disruptions around Roosendaal station. No trains are running from, via or to Roosendaal. NS expects this to last until at least 22:30. Tomorrow the winter timetable will also be in effect.

There will be no buses running in Zeeland for the rest of the day. On Thursday they expect to be running again, but with delays.

7 January, 13:30 | Thursday 8 January online education at HZ again

Due to the continuing winter weather and limited availability of public transport, it has been decided that all education will be provided online again on Thursday 8 January. This means that no education will take place at the HZ locations on that day. Study or work from home on Thursday and take care of your own safety if you do have to travel.

6 January, 16:30 | Wednesday 7 January there are fewer trains because of winter traintable

On Wednesday 7 January the winter timetable from NS will be in effect again. In addition to a more limited number of trains, this means that passengers may have to change trains more often and that journeys may take slightly longer.

There will be two trains per hour between Roosendaal and Vlissingen. Before travelling to HZ, please check the NS journey planner and take into account that it may be busy and that journey times may be longer.

The buses won't ride till at least 10:00 a.m. After that, please take in account that there might be delays.

6 January, 8:30 | Hybrid classes on Tuesday 6 January

On Tuesday January 6, education at HZ will be provided online and physically (hybrid). Buses and trains are running in Zeeland, but there is a chance of delays due to the snow.

Students can choose whether they want to attend classes in person or online. Exams scheduled for today will be rescheduled. Students and staff will be kept informed of the situation via internal and external communication channels.

5 January, 19:00 | Fewer trains due to winter timetable

Due to snowfall, fewer trains will be running throughout the country on Tuesday.

The winter timetable is in effect. In addition to a more limited number of trains, this means that passengers may have to change trains more often and that journeys may take slightly longer.
