Folkert Hiemstra has been a member of the Supervisory Board of HZ University of Applied Sciences since 1 September. The Middelburg-based Hiemstra is a partner at Van Boven Advocaten. His specialisations are corporate law, insolvency law and real estate law. Teaching is not foreign to him. He has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Mondia Scholengroep for the past eight years.
Pursuing the same goal
‘The importance of education for our beautiful region is incredibly high. Good education ensures that people and companies like to settle here and also stay. The HZ is an important part of Zeeland's education system,’ says Hiemstra about why he will start working at our educational institution. He values an open and constructive atmosphere, not only in the council, but throughout the organisation. ‘Based on the idea that all those involved pursue the same goal: the best higher education for students from inside and outside Zeeland.’
An asset to the council
The Supervisory Board is very pleased with Folkert's arrival. Chairman Susana Menendez says: ‘Folkert has a legal and governance background that comes in handy in his role as supervisor. He has strong roots in Zeeland's society and is therefore also an asset to the board. We wish Folkert every success in his new role and look forward to working together.’
