After completing her master's degrees in Geology and Geophysics from Utrecht University, Karin began her career in the IT services sector before transitioning to the energy sector (NAM and Shell) across various European locations (Assen, Rijswijk, London, Brussels). She held roles such as project manager in well engineering, knowledge and project manager within IT services, and business process manager in Real Estate. Her last role was in the merger and acquisition project management office for Shell Downstream.
In 2010, she switched to education. She gained extensive experience in international secondary education in Antwerp. In addition to teaching primarily applied sciences, she developed a multidisciplinary curriculum and teaching materials, and provided guidance to students, parents, and new teachers.
Since 2024, she has been the project leader of the Energy Campus project at HZ University of Applied Sciences. The project contributes to the transition to a climate-neutral Zeeland and establishes connections between education, research, and the business sector.
