International student Sara moved to the Netherlands to study Tourism Management at HZ. When we started our study programme, we were about fifty nationalities, so it really shows how many people come from all over the world."

What is the study programme Tourism Management about?

"With Tourism Management, we learn a lot about the different aspects that go into companies, so it could be HR related, it can be marketing related, and then obviously everything that goes into tourism. So destination development and all of that."

What made you choose to study in the Netherlands and at HZ in particular?

"I decided to come to the Netherlands because I wanted to be in an international environment, I wanted to study in English. And what I also like about HZ is that it’s more of a classroom feeling, so we’re about 30 to 40 people in one room, so it’s really personal. And you have the exchange with the teachers as well."

How do you experience studying with so many international students at HZ?

"When we started our study programme, we were about fifty nationalities, so it really shows how many people come from all over the world. And it helps you understand different cultures and different thoughts as well within a project. And you learn about the different aspects everybody brings from all over the world, so that’s really beneficial, especially in projects."

What has been an unforgettable moment for you?

"A group of five people including me, we planned a study trip to Malta. And I think about 25 of us joined, and we all just had a great time in Malta, and it really bonded us together as a group and made us closer. Which now also transferred into the second year and we’re all a lot more comfortable with each other."

What are your dreams in the Tourism Management industry?

"Tourism Management in general is just so broad. So I think after the studies, there will be a lot of options for all of us, to work all over the world, at any company."
