The results of the National Student Survey 2022 show that HZ students are once again satisfied with their study programme and university of applied sciences. On all the nationally tested themes, the students give HZ a score that is again significantly higher than the national average.
Student appreciation
From January to March, students gave their opinion about their study programme. This year the HZ response was 46%, compared to a national response of 34%. Overall, the NSE results show a positive and stable picture. In almost all main and subparts of the core subjects, the HZ scores significantly above the national HBO average (49 out of 50 parts and equal to 1 part). In addition, six new selection themes have been chosen for the HZ this edition. Below is a brief overview of the most important results.
Results for core themes, compared with other universities of applied sciences (benchmark):
- HZ students are satisfied with their 'programme in general' (3.80 on a scale of 5) and 'the atmosphere within the programme' (4.19). They also answered positively to the question 'would you choose your study programme again' (3.78).
- Of the core subjects 'satisfaction in general', 'atmosphere' (4.19), 'study guidance' (3.89), 'study facilities' (3.89) and 'acquired general skills' (3.89) are valued the highest. The results for the components 'atmosphere', 'study guidance' and 'study facilities' also show a significant increase compared to last year.
Choice themes results, these were examined at the institution's own level and not compared to other universities of applied sciences:
- On the choice themes 'international aspects' (3.53), 'skills in practice-based research' (3.79), 'equal treatment' (4.01), 'in-depth learning' (3.94), 'reflection' (3.54), 'work placements: education' (3.69) and 'work placements: experience' (4.18), the HZ scores good to very good.
A confirmation
"We appreciate the fact that our students have shared their experiences with us again this year in the National Student Survey," says John Dane, chairman of the Executive Board. "We are proud that the results confirm the personal character of our university of applied sciences and that we offer continuity in quality. Students feel at home with their study programme. It is also nice to hear that they are very satisfied with the preparation for their professional careers and the extent to which our education is in line with current developments. We continuously work together with the field in order to train the professionals of the future. We would like to thank all our staff for their dedication and hard work."
Improving and innovating
The NSE is a source of information for HZ and for future HZ students. The results are used to continue to improve the quality of education and the organisation, and to innovate. Students see the quality of the school through the eyes of the current student, which can help them make their study choice.
National Student Survey
The National Student Survey (NSE) is an annual national satisfaction survey among students in higher education. This year, students from 73 colleges and universities were invited to fill in the NSE. The NSE results are published per programme on www.studiekeuze123.nl and serve as a basis for, among others, the Keuzegidsen. The NSE is the responsibility of the Studychoice123 Foundation. This is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in cooperation with students and the higher education sector.
