The Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy, the collaboration between HZ University of Applied Sciences and Avans, celebrated its tenth anniversary with the Future Rethinkers congress in Etten-Leur on Thursday, June 15. There, there was certainly not only a look back at all the highlights, but also forward.

The partnership is shifting its focus from just biobased to multiple themes within the materials and energy transition. This calls for a new name: MNEXT.

The materials and energy transitions are two major societal challenges. Both transitions focus on a sustainable future and are technically strongly connected. MNEXT wants to tackle and accelerate these transitions together. Six lectureships fall under MNEXT. Two of them are associated with the HZ: Biobased Construction of lecturer Frank Huijben and Marine Biobased Chemistry of associate lecturer Tanja Moerdijk.
