At HZ University of Applied Sciences, we are committed to high quality education every day. With our established quality assurance system, we structurally guarantee and improve the quality of our education.
We had this quality assurance tested last autumn in the Institution Quality Assurance Test (ITK). The results are in and, as HZ, we were assessed positively. Our ITK accreditation has therefore been extended until May 2031.
Institutional Quality Assurance Test
The Institutional Quality Assurance Test (ITK) takes place every six years. As an institution, you can choose to participate. If the assessment is positive, existing and new programmes need not be tested as extensively. This is because they have then already been approved by the ITK. The central question of the test is: ‘How does the institution and each level within it work cyclically, sustainably and collectively to safeguard, improve and develop its education?’
The ITK is conducted by a panel of experts from the Netherlands Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO). The panel tested HZ's quality assurance, culture and development during two campus visits. In November 2024 at the HZ locations Het Groene Woud in Middelburg and Edisonweg in Vlissingen, and again in December 2024 in Vlissingen.
Advisory report
After visiting the HZ campuses, the panel of experts prepared an advisory report. We were assessed positively on our vision and policy, implementation, evaluation and monitoring, and further development. "The report paints a picture of a university of applied sciences that is very strongly connected to the region. Not only as a supplier of talent, but also in shaping the labour market and as a knowledge partner. That was perceived as very special by the panel, and by their interlocutors," said Arnold Jonk, president of NVAO.
