HZ focuses on safe and free education

Today, schools commemorate the murder of the French teacher Samuel Paty. The flags at the HZ locations in Vlissingen and Middelburg will therefore hang at half mast on Monday 2 November.

In doing so, the HZ emphasises the importance of constitutional freedom of expression. Teachers must be able to offer a safe learning environment in which everyone is welcome. Freedom, equality and solidarity are central to this.

With the half-mast hanging of the flags, the HZ follows the call of education ministersIngrid van Engelshoven and Arie Slob.
