He’s a passionate Animal Scientist from South Africa with a deep interest in aquaculture.
After completing a BSc in Animal Sciences at Stellenbosch University, Luca wasted no time getting involved into the fast evolving world that is aquaculture. He jumped on a plane with his suitcase and a surfboard and arrived in the Netherlands. Here he started his aquaculture career at The Kingfish Company. As a senior production biologist, he was involved in actively pushing the limits of sustainable land-based aquaculture, working with new and innovative techniques in RAS technology and leading the pack in sustainable land-based farming of yellowtail kingfish.
As land becomes scarce due to our growing population, the obvious route is to look at water as a sustainable source of food moving forward. He’s excited to be involved in this change of agricultural farming and to be part of the HZ team. The group develops new and sustainable methods of farming in the ever expanding world that is aquaculture
