The HZ has a new research vision. The document was presented on Tuesday during the first edition of the HZ Discovery Café, a new initiative that highlights applied research at the university of applied sciences.

Before a large audience, leading professors Jasper van Houcke and Olaf Timmermans, research managers Han van de Sandt and Margot Tempelman, and research advisor Kees Bal explained the reasoning behind the vision, the research plans of HZ, the focus on the themes of water, energy, and vitality, and the interaction between research and education.

Scientific director Albert Klein Tank of the Delta Climate Center reflected on the vision after the presentation and spoke about how the two organizations can complement and strengthen each other.

The HZ Discovery Café will now take place every six weeks. The second edition will be held on Tuesday, March 18, in Middelburg. Each session will feature two researchers who take the stage in a friendly, informal setting to share their passion for their work, present specific research, or offer insights on current events. They will also engage in discussions with the audience. The café is open to anyone interested in research in and for the region.
