Frank van der Stappen from the colleague institution University College Roosevelt will give a lecture on Wednesday, September 11, as part of the institution's 20th-anniversary celebrations.
It is the fourth lecture in the anniversary series. The title is "What Game Characters Can Learn from Robots... and What They Can't." Robots have been helping humans for about 85 years to perform tasks faster, cheaper, more precisely, and more safely. For a long time, the design of robots for industrial applications was primarily based on human anatomy, but it has become clear that simpler solutions often exist. However, the knowledge gained from robots with human movement abilities is now having a positive impact on the world of games and animated films. What can game characters learn from robots... and what can't they? Admission is free. Doors open at 7:30 PM via the Town Hall's Foyer at the Market. The lecture begins at 8:00 PM and lasts about an hour.
Registration is available at www.ucr.nl/lustrum.
