Lode Lauwaert discusses key themes that revolve around a central idea: technology is not neutral. That is his message. After all, he argues, we are technology. On January 22, 2025, Lauwaert will give a lecture on developments in AI and the ethics associated with them.
As a professor, he teaches courses on this topic in the engineering program in Leuven. This time, he will share his insights with the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI). Researchers, lecturers, and students from HZ University of Applied Sciences are also warmly invited to attend.
AI is in the spotlight. Numerous articles are being written about it. John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton, both pioneers in the field of AI, were recently awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. In July and December 2023, Lode wrote two columns on AI for De Ingenieur. He is also the author of Wij Robots (We Robots), a book about the beauty and challenges of AI.
