The aim of this project is to develop new potato varieties by accelerating the discovery of good genetics in potato plants. This will result in new generations of potato varieties coming onto the market that are drought-resistant and salt-tolerant and can do with little (artificial) fertiliser (N). The overarching aim is that by carrying out this project, a start can be made quickly on making the cultivation of potatoes more sustainable. As a result, the potato will remain available as basic food for a growing world population in the future.
