Will you, with a simple but beautiful gesture, lend our colleague Timo Derriks and his family a helping hand? They really need it. Join us in folding! We need 1,000 origami cranes.
Evita Midwifery Practice in Wemeldinge has organized a campaign for our colleague Timo Derriks, his wife, and their little daughter Zoë. Zoë is Timo and his wife’s two-year-old daughter. She and her twin sister, Elin, were diagnosed with leukemia about a year ago, just days apart. Heartbreakingly, Elin passed away this past February. Zoë is currently undergoing treatment, but her latest results are very concerning.
In the midst of this hardship, Timo and his wife are looking forward to the arrival of a new baby.
A Japanese Legend
The staff at the midwifery practice are now calling on everyone to help fold 1,000 cranes for Zoë. According to an old Japanese legend, folding 1,000 origami cranes brings good luck, health, and a long life. This tradition has spread worldwide and symbolizes faith, hope, and peace.
Join Folding in the Community Hub
From the Community Department at HZ, we want to come together to support Timo and his family. That’s why, next week (between November 4 and 8), we’ll be hosting a communal folding session every break (from 12:15 to 1:00 PM) in the Community Hub (L009).
We invite all colleagues to join in and encourage you to bring students along. Will you come fold a crane with us? Together, we’ll make as many cranes as possible for Zoë, symbolizing our solidarity, strength, and hope.
Showered with cranes
We hope you’ll fold one, two, ten, twenty, or more cranes. Folding at home? Send them to the practice at Prinses Beatrixweg 60, 4424 AD Wemeldinge, or Veerstraat 4, 4339 AK Nieuw- en Sint Joosland. HZ will make sure all the cranes folded next week reach the right address.
The midwives will ensure that Zoë, Timo, and his wife soon receive a flood of cranes and all the warmth, connection, and love we can bring together!
