Hans Camps will start as interim member of the Executive Board at HZ on 13 January 2025. He will take the place of Ab Smit, who leaves on 1 January. Camps has years of experience in higher education. His focus will be on operations and related projects.
Highly experienced
Hans Camps boasts a long and fine career in education. He started in the sector in 2011 as a member of the Executive Board of ROC Mondriaan in the Haaglanden region. After ROC Mondriaan, he was a member of the Executive Board of De Haagse Hogeschool for six years. Here, he was responsible for operational management, several faculties and various knowledge centres. Recently, Hans was active as interim director at HAS Green Academy. Then it was the HZ that called him. ‘I knew the HZ by name, of course. Especially recently, I heard it pass by a lot in the political debate. And I knew the HZ from the nice rankings in the Keuzegids,’ he says with a laugh. Hans is also familiar with the problems of colleges in the region. ‘That's one of the reasons I find HZ so interesting. I am also curious to know what it is like to work in a different province than I have done for a long time. I also find HZ's profile very interesting.’
Pleased with his arrival
The Supervisory Board is delighted with the appointment. The board opted for a temporary filling of the position after Ab Smit's departure. This will keep the management running smoothly until - after a careful selection procedure - there is a new director. The Supervisory Board is convinced that Hans will make a valuable contribution to the management of HZ and, together with Barbara Oomen, will further propagate HZ's vision and strategy. Barbara Oomen is also pleased with Hans' arrival. ‘It is very nice that Hans is joining us. He has extensive experience as a director in the HZ, such as with dossiers like accommodation, finance and people and organisation. In addition, I got to know Hans in the meetings as a very pleasant personality. As a result, I am really looking forward to working together.’
Process permanent successor
More clarity on the process of a permanent successor is expected in early 2025.
