As director and founder of Solidarity University, a center of excellence for social innovation, Petra works closely with the EVM research group.

Mutual understanding and shared meaning are the two central concepts of the approach. The cooperation between the HZ and Solidarity University ensures that these two central concepts of the social theory of a sustainable society are made very practically applicable, not only for and with students and teachers, but also by working intensively in practice with people outside the HZ.
Together with professionals and volunteers, she puts theory into practice by tackling various social issues. By doing this together, the approach and underlying theory is enriched each time. This is a continuous process of working and learning together.
Petra graduated in Comparative Cultural Studies at Ghent University.
