If you don’t meet the admission requirements for a study programme, it is possible to take this Introductory Mathematics Course. Once you successfully complete the course, you may still be admitted to the programme of your choice.

Flexible learning options

The Introductory Mathematics Course is offered as an e-learning programme or a home study with remote guidance. You will follow the course material and complete exercises online, with a tutor available to answer your questions via email.

Course contents

To best connect with the subsequent study programme, the introductory course is split into two different profiles:

  • Context I focuses on the Information and Communication Technology and Global Project and Change Management study programmes
  • Context II offers preparation for the Chemistry, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Logistics Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management study programmes.

Course format and coaching

The introductory Mathematics course is offered in the form of E-learning, or home study with remote guidance. You follow the course material and complete the exercises online, and a tutor is available to answer your questions by e-mail.

Study load

The average study load of the introductory course Context I is 60 hours. Of Context II, the average study load is 80 hours.

Testing

Each part of the introductory course is tested in between, so that you reach the right level step by step. There is therefore no final test.

Course dates

The introductory Mathematics course is offered in the form of E-learning. You can start the e-learning at any time and follow the lessons at times that suit you. However, it is advisable to start before 1 July if you want to complete the bridging course in time for the start of the new academic year.

Costs

Cost for participation in the course is €200 (subject to change). If you register for a regular study programme at HZ University of Applied Sciences during the academic year before 1 October, you can get a refund of half (€100) of this course fee.

Study materials

The e-learning module contains all practice and study materials. The exercises and tests are taken within the e-learning module. No other study materials are used.

Language

The introductory Mathematics course is offered in Dutch and English. Within the online learning environment, you can choose your preferred language.
