Saskia Nijhof

Saskia is an innovation scientist with extensive international work experience in research, programme management and knowledge management. Since September 2024, she has been affiliated with the Delta Climate Centre and the Copernicus Institute as an external PhD candidate, employed by HZ University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen. The aim of her PhD research is to explore the possibilities for developing a local blue-green protein sector in Zeeland from an integrative food system perspective, focusing on regional entrepreneurs and consumers. She specifically wants to investigate (1) what a Theory of Change for the transition to a sustainable blue-green protein sector looks like, (2) what the role of consumers is in this transition, (3) how entrepreneurs can be supported to participate in this transition, and (4) how interventions in the present can influence the desired future situation.
