The Aquaculture in Delta Regions research group at HZ University of Applied Sciences conducts research into the controlled production of shellfish in Zeeland: aquaculture.
The research group is led by lecturer Jasper van Houcke, and Eva Hartog is one of the researchers. She has many contacts with mussel and oyster farmers in the region. ‘The Netherlands is a leader in innovation in shellfish farming compared to other European countries,’ she says in an interview with IO+, an independent journalism platform about innovations in various sectors. Among other things, Eva talks about a pilot project involving the farming of shellfish in the North Sea coastal area.
The interview with Eva, Addy Risseeuw from the PO Mossel interest group and Arie Mol from the Fisheries Innovation Network can be read here (in Dutch).
