Today saw the publication of the annual higher professional education (HBO) monitor by Maastricht University’s Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA). The conclusion: four out of five HBO graduates find work immediately after graduation.
A total of more than 25,000 higher professional education graduates took part in the ROA survey. They completed their studies in the 2023/2024 academic year and were contacted one and a half years after graduation. Below are some key findings:
- 83% of higher professional education (HBO) graduates find a job straight away.
- In the education sector, 96% of graduates find work straight away, and in the healthcare sector, 92%.
- Graduates with an associate degree (a two-year, practice-oriented higher professional education programme) are still the quickest to find a job: around 90% move straight into employment.
- Higher professional education master’s graduates are more likely to have a permanent contract and receive a higher starting salary.
