HZ Discovery Café about the Zeelandbrug
Will you join us at the HZ Discovery Café in Vlissingen on Tuesday 17 November? This time, one of the province’s greatest icons takes centre stage: the Zeelandbrug.
Professor Vana Tsimopoulou, researchers Sondos Saad and Albert Repko of the Asset Management research group, and Steven Mookhoek of the Province of Zeeland will explain how they worked together to check the health of the five-kilometre-long bridge.
What happens when a 60-year-old bridge has to carry tomorrow’s traffic? The Zeelandbrug is a vital lifeline for Zeeland. In the Fieldlab Monitoring Zeelandbrug, the Province of Zeeland, HZ, TU Delft, Witteveen+Bos and World Class Maintenance gave the bridge a thorough health check, using sensors that listened to the bridge day and night.
A look behind the scenes
In this edition, HZ researchers Sondos Saad and Albert Repko, together with project leader Steven Mookhoek of the province, take you behind the scenes of this project.
What does this mean for mobility in our region? What do interventions on our roads and bridges mean for the way we live, work and travel? And how does this research fit with the long-term vision for the development of Zeeland? Put your own views to the test in an interactive round of statements, led by Professor Vana Tsimopoulou.
Doors open at 15:30
The doors of the HZ Discovery Café open on Tuesday 17 November at 15:30. The researchers will start their talk at 16:00. Afterwards, there is plenty of time for questions and to catch up over a snack and a drink.
We organise the HZ Discovery Café three to four times per academic year. During the café, HZ researchers talk about their work in a relaxed, informal atmosphere and shed light on current events. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
