A new school, a new study programme, a new class, and for some students, even a whole new country. The first 100 days at HZ are exciting, challenging, but also fun! You'll dive into your program, get to know your classmates better, and make your student room a new home. Student Iylaf shares her experiences during her first 100 days at HZ.

Iylaf describes her first 100 days at HZ as "strange." After working full-time for two years, she decided to enroll in the part-time Nursing study programme at HZ. "Then you're suddenly back in school," says Iylaf. "And that's quite a drastic change." Initially, Iylaf doubted whether a part-time study programme would be a good fit. Students have to schedule their schoolwork around their jobs, which can be quite overwhelming. "You have to have faith in yourself," she says. "Eventually, it all falls into place." Iylaf persevered and with success. She's now very happy with her study programme at HZ.

Suddenly you're back in school. That's quite a drastic change!

One thing Iylaf did struggle with was maintaining an overview. She has a busy job, a full personal life, and then she also has to do homework and attend classes. To stay organized, Iylaf uses a yearly calendar instead of a monthly or weekly calendar. She writes down all her school deadlines and then reschedules the work. This way, Iylaf knows exactly what to do and when. "Make it visual for yourself," she says. "That really helps."

Besides her work and studies, Iylaf also finds it important to meet new people. The HZ Community helps her with this. "Sometimes I feel so caught up in my own care bubble," Iylaf says. "Making friends in a new province can be quite difficult. Everyone already knows each other!" By participating in HZ Community activities, she gets to know students from other programs and also from other nationalities. "I'm happy to make time for that," Iylaf laughs. "And it's also a lot of fun!"
