Mandy van den Ende

My name is Mandy van den Ende. I have recently started working as a postdoctoral researcher at HZ University of Applied Sciences on a new exploratory project for the Delta Climate Centre: Delta Verbeeld(t).

After completing my studies (a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam and a Master’s in Sustainable Development at Utrecht University), I began working as a junior researcher in the Environmental Governance group at the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development (Utrecht University). As a PhD student and postdoc, I then investigated how we address environmental issues in the Dutch peat meadows, including by integrating environmental considerations into other policies and through experimentation. I discovered that these forms of governance often fail to do justice to the complex, uncertain and ambiguous nature of societal issues. This calls for fundamentally different forms of governance. Within Delta Verbeeld(t), we are working towards an installation that provides space for alternative ways of understanding, appreciating, visualising and shaping the south-western delta landscape.
