Ignaas Caryn

Ignaas Caryn holds a master’s degree in Economics from Ghent University and earned an MBA from Vlerick Business School. By the end of 2024, he completed his PhD in Management, Technology, and Economics at ETH Zurich. His research focused on the role of top management in the adoption or rejection of new technologies when these disrupt the business ecosystem ('supply-side driven disruptive innovation').

He previously worked at KLM in strategic roles, created three investment funds for startups, and was instrumental in the development of sustainable aviation fuels.

Ignaas has also been a lecturer in the Industrial Engineering and Management program at HZ University.

He has extensive practical experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, and venture capital. At the knowledge center, he focuses on the functioning of entrepreneurial ecosystems, particularly in the food and recreation sectors, as well as on sustainable transitions linked to new business models.

Ignaas is a connector, always searching for innovative solutions and eager to challenge the status quo.
