Through podcasts, performances, films and exhibitions, I explore cultural change within systemic transitions. I also investigate how artistic research and other forms of research come together on an equal footing in transition practice. Until 2025, I was Professor of Economy in Common at Avans, where I explored economics as a cultural practice and experimented with alternative narratives about value, exchange and markets.
Outside the university, I am chair of the Supervisory Board of Casco Art Institute and a member of the Supervisory Board of Theaterproductiehuis Zeeland. I am also a curator and Firekeeper at the World Ethic Forum, an international community exploring how we can live from a culture of ‘Radically Shared Aliveness’. I am also Associate Director at the Pari Centre, an international knowledge institute that brings together Art, Science and the Sacred as distinct yet interconnected ways of understanding the world. Together with Jacco van Uden, I curated the special issue ‘This Is Not Art’ for Pari Perspectives, exploring art in transition.
I completed my PhD in South Africa on entrepreneurship and organisation based on worldviews from elsewhere and from different perspectives, and worked as a consultant on social and economic transitions towards a fair and sustainable world for all life.
My work is lovingly activist in nature: I highlight the dilemmas of our time, challenge the assumptions we have come to take for granted, and make it visible, tangible and conceivable that things can be done differently.
