The core of the project is linking operational data (telematics) to service life models and design processes. The role of the Critical Materials research group is twofold:
- Project management: The group acts as the lead partner and coordinates the consortium.
- Subject-matter expertise (Design): In Work Package 4, we are investigating the feasibility of electrification (e-trailers). We translate the calculated energy requirements into a concrete materials passport, quantifying the impact on critical raw materials (such as lithium, cobalt and rare earth elements for motors) and identifying risks in the supply chain.
This project positions the research group at the heart of the regional manufacturing industry and links the themes of data, logistics and materials transition.
