Iris van de Velde presented her plan on Tuesday 22 April during the HZ Discovery Café in Vlissingen for her research into how tourism entrepreneurs in Zeeland can contribute to the health of local residents.
She aims to support Zeeland's entrepreneurs in developing healthy initiatives. This aligns with the province’s ambition to be a vital and healthy region. Iris’s research is remarkable in many ways, as it marks the first professional doctorate (PD) research project at HZ. A PD is comparable to a PhD, a doctoral trajectory at a university. Iris is the first PD candidate at HZ.
An addition to the existing offering
During the HZ Discovery Café, Frank van der Zwan from the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences explained how the national PD programme came into being and why it complements the existing educational offerings. A total of 25 universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands are participating in the national PD pilot.
