The eight-part series ‘Een zee van weten’ focuses on young scientists in Zeeland.

Iris van de Velde is a member of the Healthy Region research group. As the first professional doctorate (PD) candidate in Zeeland, she is currently pursuing her PD at HZ University of Applied Sciences. She is researching how entrepreneurs in the tourism sector can contribute to the health of the local population. Zeeland aims to be a vibrant region, where a thriving leisure sector is in balance with society and the living environment. Iris’s research is intended to help realise that ambition.

In the episode of ‘Een zee van weten’ below, she talks more about her research. She can also be heard, alongside her supervisor Olaf Timmermans and Provincial Executive member Harry van der Maas, in an episode of the interview programme ‘De Zeeuws Kamer’. In it, the trio discuss the province’s ambitions in the field of science.
