The second edition of the Regeneration Festival of HZ University of Applied Sciences took place last Thursday, centred around learning, connecting and inspiring.
More than thirty students shared their passion with fellow students, lecturers and visitors. The festival was organised by HZ Impact Lab and International Business students Nevena and Harpinderjot.
Associate lecturer at The Hague University of Applied Sciences Bas van den Berg opened the festival with a keynote in which he took the audience on a journey through a regenerative way of thinking and doing. He showed how regenerative principles can find their place in education, practice and research, and how we can truly make a difference together. Six principles took centre stage:
- The World as Curriculum
- Questions that Touch Your Heart
- Whole Body Learning
- Work from Potential
- Earthful
- Societal Learning
Afterwards, students gave presentations and workshops on a regenerative topic close to their hearts. From a Taxi Energy Hub and greening our living environment to a surprising and connecting karaoke session. Following the popular Re-wear workshop by students Noor, Zegna and Ilze, a genuine 'Clothes Swap Store' emerged.
The future of people, society and nature in balance
Throughout the afternoon, knowledge was freely exchanged, listening, observing, questioning and learning. That is what regenerative education is all about: discovering together, growing together and working together towards a future in which people, society and nature are in balance.
