The Delta Climate Center has received nearly 3.5 million euros in subsidies from the province of Zeeland. This is the first installment of a larger amount. In total, a subsidy of 20 million euros has been pledged by the province. This amount will be paid out in different phases. Provincial executives Harry van der Maas and Arno Vael announced the grant on Tuesday, September 3rd.
The former expressed his happiness that the subsidy was granted to the Delta Climate Center (DCC). He described the new center as "a flower that is already blooming beautifully." According to him, education and research are essential conditions for a healthy economy. "With this investment, we are taking an important step toward a sustainable future for Zeeland," he explained. "The DCC is a catalyst for research and innovations in the fields of water, food, and circularity in our province. Additionally, the center contributes to attracting new students and creates a more appealing business climate for companies. As a result, employment in Zeeland and economic growth receive a boost."
Wide reach
Thanks to the province's support, the DCC can focus on research and education that contribute to a sustainable, climate-resilient, and prosperous future for the Zeeland delta and delta regions worldwide. What makes the DCC special is that the entire spectrum, from vocational education to applied sciences to university education, collaborates on solutions for the Zeeland delta and delta regions worldwide.
Scalda, HZ University of Applied Sciences, University College Roosevelt, Utrecht University, Wageningen University & Research, and the NIOZ research institute are the partners.

The DCC is part of the Wind in de Zeilen- package. This package includes significant investments in Zeeland, both economically and socially. The province has pledged a total of 20 million euros in subsidies, which will be disbursed in various phases. On top of this amount, an additional 68 million euros will come from the national government.
