During three meetings at HZ University of Applied Sciences, artists, students, lecturers, and researchers will jointly explore what freedom means within key themes. Each meeting is an exercise in free thinking. During the conversations, different disciplines, experiences, and perspectives come together. The aim is to learn from one another.
The role of art is central to these conversations. The first meeting takes place on Tuesday, 16 December at 12:00 p.m. in room GW010 at HZ on Het Groene Woud in Middelburg. The discussion will focus on city and countryside, scaling up, and cohesion. The central question of the conversation is: 'How can we reconnect with the ground beneath our feet, with one another, and with the way we want to live?'
Panel discussion
The conversation will be moderated by Marie Jeanne de Rooij. She is director of the Piket Art Prizes, chair of the Wilhelminaring, and a board member of Hoogtij. Together with Sander Creman, she runs the project gallery Creman and De Rooij; she is also an independent curator and, with Hans Ligteringen, forms the artist duo BuroLdR.
The panel includes Johan Wedts de Swart, strategic policy advisor for Land and Real Estate at the Province of Zeeland, and Youri Guepin, visual artist, market gardener, and researcher.
