HZ University of Applied Sciences and Erasmus University/GovernEUR are organising a closing symposium on 5 November for the RAAK Public project ‘Responding to Resident Initiatives in Climate Transitions’.
Over the past two years, they have been researching how responsive municipalities are to resident initiatives in climate transitions. Many municipalities actively seek contact with residents to shape challenges such as the heat transition, greening, or the development of a local energy network. The research shows that this collaboration becomes stronger when the focus is not only on the municipality’s own agenda, but there is also room to connect with what matters to residents and to invest in relationships that extend beyond a single project.
The closing symposium on 5 November runs from 12:30 to 17:30. The venue is the ZB in Middelburg.
Ina Horlings of the University of Groningen will reflect on the role of resident initiatives in climate transitions, and Jurian Edelenbos and Jean-Marie Buijs will present insights into the research results. In several breakout sessions, you can then get hands-on with, among other things, a serious game and Asset-Based Community Development, experiment with the worst possible way to involve residents, or hear more about the experiences of resident initiatives in Zeeland.
