Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

HZ encourages the safe use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in your learning process. This is because AI can enhance your development into a professional.

AI has a major impact on various professional fields and therefore also on the skills expected of (future) professionals. Therefore, the HZ encourages you to explore the possibilities of AI within your profession and use it responsibly. As a student, it is important that you understand how to apply AI in the professional context, ensuring professional standards. It is also important that you learn how to maintain ownership of your work and be able to look at it critically.

The following guidelines apply HZ-wide. In addition, programmes can make agreements on the application of AI in education and how you as a student account for your work. The instruction from your teacher, the programme or the domain is leading.

Learning and working with AI

As a student, you are responsible for your own work and the way you use AI. What knowledge and skills are important to master yourself? When can you use AI and how do you prevent AI from taking over your learning process? How do you make sure that AI correctly supports your learning process? This varies per field and even per situation. In addition, it is very important that you can critically assess the output of AI tools. AI tools often provide incorrect, incomplete or biased information. Even if this is not clearly visible.

The HZ encourages you to use AI for innovation. Discuss your ideas with peers and lecturers so that you can learn together and inspire each other. (Learning) to work in this way requires a lot of practice. That's why we encourage critical and responsible AI use at HZ.

  • Consider the ethical implications of using AI in your studies and (future) profession.
  • Do not share privacy-sensitive and confidential information of yourself and third parties, such as the HZ, your internship company or employer, with AI.
  • Do not share copyrighted works and/or information that may violate another intellectual property right of the HZ or third parties.

By following these guidelines, you will develop AI skills that are important for your studies and increasingly important for the future.
