Step 4. You've been hired! Next steps
Read the internship handbook
Each domain or programme has its own internship handbook on Learn with the advice, rules and regulations regarding internships. You can also ask the internship coordinator of your study programme where to find it. In the Regulations of your study programme you also find information on the internships.
Ask approval for your internship assignment
You have to get the approval for your internship or final research assignment. Contact the internship coordinator or graduation coordinator of your programme how to go about this. There will be special classes with information on the internships. No approval = no credits.
Create an internship contract through OnStage
You have to draw up your internship contract in OnStage. You have to do this online. After all parties have signed the internship contract - you, the internship company and HZ - upload the contract in OnStage. If you have questions about how to create the internship contract, please first read the information in the internship handbook. If necessary you can contact your internship coordinator or The Work Zone.
The Work Zone
The Work Zone manages the OnStage-programme at HZ. So you can also refer to their staff in case you have practical questions. Or you can visit:
- Campus Vlissingen: room L062/063.
- Campus Middelburg: from Monday to Thursday from 10.00-14.00 in GW019.
Kim Zwemer, an International Business student about her experience in Bali:
‘I'm doing my internship at Ecohero, a company that motivates people to exchange their daily products for environmentally friendly alternatives. During my internship, I’m responsible for Ecohero's social media strategy.
I live with 12 other students in Sanur, from here I can explore the island on my scooter. During the week we are all busy with our internship but, on the weekends we often go to a party together or we book a trip to another island such as Lombok, Nusa Penida or Komodo. Once a week we have surfing classes, Bali is a great place to learn how to surf!
I am having the time of my life here. It's an amazing adventure that I wouldn't miss for anything. I can recommend everyone to do an internship in Bali or abroad at all. In the beginning, it may sound a bit scary and it is a lot of work to arrange everything properly, but once you are here it is all worth it. So don't hesitate too long and go on an adventure!’
