Would you like to coordinate the projects and coach the fourth year students to a start as young professionals?
Being a lecturer isn't something you do, it's who you are. We cannot teach you your desire to innovate, love for people, technology and involvement with students. That has to be intrinsically within you. Helping each other grow, a taste of different cultures, resilience, does that appeal to you and is it in you? Then please apply for the vacancy in our IT team at HZ University of Applied Sciences in Middelburg, because making the world a little better together with our students, that is our goal.
Your work as an IT lecturer
As an IT lecturer, you want our students to excel in their field. That is why we give you plenty of confidence and space to bring across your practical experience and also to continuously develop yourself. You will have a team of some 15 colleagues who support each other and learn from each other. You challenge each other to develop yourself and innovate the study programme. Openness, trust, and courage are the characteristics we have jointly chosen as our team and we actively implement these. We therefore greatly appreciate a social attitude.
And to ensure that education remains connected to the actual practice, you are constantly working on social trends, and new developments. Because you come up with the practical solutions for tomorrow based on your expertise. In addition, you will also make full use of this knowledge in the lectures you provide. You may do this in combination with a part-time job elsewhere or while having your own company.
Together with other study programmes and research groups, we work on themes such as the vitality of the elderly in the region, mobility issues with GEO software and data, research on water quality, developing digital twins to optimize or simulate processes, analysis of new food sources, renewable energy and many more topics to make the world a little more beautiful. You do this by providing personal and practice-oriented education that is characterized by learning from and doing applied research. Our fourth-year students are working on these kinds of complex, sometimes interdisciplinary projects. We are looking for a lecturer who can coordinate the fourth study year and who helps prepare our students for the start as young professionals. So you are easily approachable and have a coaching style, but you are also very good at organizing. Based on your experience, you work together with the students and experts on real-life research assignments, so you bring important expertise to our team.
You know better than anyone that being a lecturer goes beyond just transferring knowledge. Students can always rely on you and the role of coach is tailored to you. You use your knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to train students to become enterprising, innovative and driven young professionals. You do this by:
•providing education within your field in multidisciplinary courses/study projects.
•guiding and coaching students with an empathetic outlook.
•coordinating the coherence in subjects and projects in the fourth year.
•actively participating in the development of interdisciplinary educational projects in collaboration with the professional field.
