Delta’s are the regions in the world where most human activities take place and which are most vulnerable for the effects of climate change. During this course you will focus on the challenges of living and working in a Delta Area. The Summer School will be given in the South West of the Netherlands, a beautiful Delta area.

Programme

Programme

During this three week programme you will focus on the challenges of living and working in a Delta Area. Every week, you will deal with a specific theme: Safety and (Building with) Nature, Economy, Food and Energy production, Technology (re)use of fresh water) and Governance. With a combination of (guest) lectures by experts, interactive workshops and field visits you will get an in depth overview of the state of the art knowledge and experiences in those fields. Apart from that you will apply the gained competences in an attractive central task, dealing with the future of the region.

Cultural activities
An extended programme will be offered during evenings and weekend with a.o. visits to several places in Netherlands (Amsterdam), Belgium (Ghent), France (Lille) and Germany (Aachen).

Finances

The costs are €1.400,- for EU-students and €2.600,- for non-EU students. The costs include:
• a three week course, for 4 ECTS
• housing in convenient apartments
• fieldtrips
• a cultural programme
• lunch (excl weekends)

Entry requirements

The summer school is open for students from at least undergraduate level (> 1st year) and with English skills on IELTS level (>6.0).
