Researcher Excellence in Education
Martijn Leenknecht MSc. is an education specialist and works as a policy advisor for the Department of Education, Research and Quality. Next to policy development, he also contributes to the implementation of education policy in the various bachelor programmes. His fields of expertise are testing and assessing, teacher professionalisation, educational policy and study success. He is the founder and coordinator of the national “Platform Leren van Toetsen” (Platform Learning from Testing). This platform is a cooperation of universities of applied sciences and is coordinated by HZ, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Avans University of Applied Sciences. The platform focuses on knowledge development and knowledge sharing with regard to feedback and learning curve of testing and assessing in higher professional education. As a doctoral student, Martijn is related to the Roosevelt Center for Excellence in Education in Middelburg, where he carries out research into motivating teacher styles.
In the associate professorship, Martijn uses his experience with higher professional education for primary education. His projects focus on feedback dialogues, peer assessment, motivation and self-regulation of pupils, and on teacher styles.
