Graduate from Civil Engineering wins HZ Stern thesis price

On 19th of December, the prestigious thesis prize HZ Stern is awarded to Christian van Nieuwenhuizen, a graduate from Civil Engineering. He won with his thesis "Floating solids transport in pump sumps by the means of controlled free-surface vortices”. According to Teunis de Weerd, foreman of the jury, this is a golden opportunity and could cause a major reduction in maintance costs of purification plants.
