Getting to HZ

By car
The HZ main building is close to the A58 motorway. When you arrive at the traffic lights at the end of the A58 (E312), turn left. After crossing the railway tracks follow the road 'Oude Veerhavenweg'. You will find the entrance of the HZ parking area on your right.

By public transport
It is easiest to travel by train from the airport to Vlissingen. There are train connections from airports such as Amsterdam-Schiphol, Brussels, Rotterdam, Eindhoven. HZ lies within walking distance from the Vlissingen railway station. Check the website of the national railway services for up to date travel information and train tickets. You can buy tickets at the NS self-service ticket machine (available at every railway station) or at the servicedesks. You can pay with your credit card, if you have a VISA or a Mastercard. 

*Note: Vlissingen is the last stop on the track. The station before Vlissingen is called Vlissingen-Souburg. Don’t get off there!

From Amsterdam-Schiphol by train*

If you arrive at Schiphol Airport Amsterdam, the railway station is located below the airport. You can take the Intercity Direct to Rotterdam Central Station (supplement might be necessary), so make sure you buy the correct ticket at the ticket office. At Rotterdam CS you have to switch trains to Vlissingen.

The other possibility is to take the train to Leiden Central Station and switch trains to Vlissingen. The trip by train takes approximately 2,5-3 hours.

From Rotterdam by train*

If you arrive at Rotterdam Airport you have to take the bus to Rotterdam Central Station. The buses leave every 10 minutes and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the railway station. From here you can take the direct train to Vlissingen. Check the website of the national railway services for a travel planner, up to date travel information and train tickets. A train ticket from Rotterdam to Vlissingen (one-way) is €20. The trip by train takes approximately 1,5 hours.

From Eindhoven by train*

If you arrive at Eindhoven Airport you have to take the bus to Eindhoven Central Station. The buses leave every 10 minutes and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the railway station. From here you can take the train to Vlissingen. You have to switch trains in Tilburg and Roosendaal. Check the website of the national railway services for a travel planner, up to date travel information and train tickets. A train ticket from Eindhoven to Vlissingen (one-way) is €25. The trip by train takes approximately 2,5 hours.

From Brussels (Belgium) by train*

If you arrive at Brussels International Airport (Zaventem), the railway station is located below the airport. Every hour from 6.11 am. until 9.11 pm. a train leaves to Roosendaal (NL). In Roosendaal you have to switch trains to Vlissingen. The trip by train takes approximately 2,5 hours.

From Charleroi Airport (Belgium)*

If you arrive at Charleroi Airport you have to take a bus to Brussels Midi/South Central station. The buses leave every half an hour and it takes about 1 hour to get to the railway station. From here you can take the train to Roosendaal. In Roosendaal you have to switch trains to Vlissingen. The trip by train takes approximately 3hours.

HZ provides an airport pick-up service from Schiphol for newly enrolled non-EU students. A student will pick you up, help you buy your train ticket and travel back with you to Vlissingen. For this service €90 will be charged. Email study@hz.nl if you would like us to pick you up at the airport.
