In early 2020, the demolition of the buildings next to the current HZ building began. Construction will start in February 2021. The aim is to have the institute operational in 2022. There are five phases in the construction.
Phase 1 HZ Education Building
In the first phase, the former building of the Provinciale Waterstaat was renovated into an educational building. You will find a large part of the technical HZ study programmes here. The building will also be the educational location for UCR’s new science department.
Phase 2 Joint Research Center Zeeland
This phase concerns the construction of JRCZ at Het Groene Woud. JRCZ is expected to be completed in 2022, in time for the 2022/2023 academic year.
Phase 3 Ecological laboratory
In this phase we will realize a separate building for the JRCZ ecological laboratory. This building is also expected to be completed in 2022, in time for the 2022/2023 academic year.
Phase 4 Layout of campus grounds
After the buildings have been completed, the campus grounds will be laid out in a sustainable and ecologically responsible manner.
Phase 5 Connecting the campus site with its surroundings
In the final phase of this project, the campus site will be integrated with the Bolwerk.
