Saturday, October 7, the doors of the Joint Research Center Zeeland (JRCZ) are wide open to the public.
During the Science Day, there will be plenty to see and do at the research institute on Het Groene Woud in Middelburg.
Science Day , a day for children aged 8 to 14 (and their parents), has been taking place at the ZB on the Kousteensedijk for years. This year, for the first time, the day will be celebrated at two locations, Between the ZB and JRCZ a (free) train will ride back and forth.
Lots to do
Divided over the two locations, there are more than 25 workshops, shows, excursions, demonstrations and kids' classes. In the JRCZ there is plenty to do for children, but it is certainly also interesting for parents and other interested parties. Here, for example, you can discover how to make plastic from seaweed and even taste it (because it is also edible), make a tile from flax and discover the wonderful world of hydrogen. Also open is the Data Science Lab. Here you can see on hyopermodern screens all the cool things you can do with data.
On excursion
In addition, kids can go on an excursion around the JRCZ. Together with a guide, who knows everything about nature in the city, you will discover what kinds of animals and plants live in the city. On a screen in the research laboratory you can then see what you have discovered. Through the app or website of waarneming.nl you will get help in finding species.
Science museum Nemo
During the day, science museum Nemo from Amsterdam gives a spectacular show twice in the afternoon. Using a telehandler, a car and an ordinary vacuum cleaner, the museum will show how the vacuum effect works. Everyone is welcome at both the ZB and the JRCZ between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
