Programme
The word “mechatronics” is a contraction of the words “mechanics” and “electronics”. During the last century, these classical fields of engineering have metamorphosed into other (sub)fields of engineering like control engineering and computer engineering. Mechatronics denotes the field of study or branch of industry that is related to the integrated design of products, devices and dynamic systems consisting of mechanical parts, electrical parts and electronic control.
Mechatronics represents the integration of different fields of engineering. Therefore, it is not easy to give an overall accepted definition of Mechatronics. In general, Mechatronics denotes the field of study or branch of industry that is related to the integrated design of products, devices and dynamic systems consisting of mechanical parts, electrical parts and electronic control. Mechatronics is all around us: a floppy disk drive, modern vehicles (automobiles, motorcycles, etc.), a SCUD missile, modern boilers, cellular telephones and so on.
HZ offers a specialization Mechatronics for both national and international students. The primary goal of this specialization is to equip students with the competences required for the integral design and engineering of Mechatronics products, and for solving technical, Mechatronics-related problems.
Accreditation
The system of accreditation in higher education aims to guarantee that study programmes meet the highest standards. Mechatronics is a minor of our following educational programmes: Electrotechnical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. These programmes are both accredited and therefore listed in the Central Register of Higher Education Programmes (Croho).
